eGHL is the first Malaysian online payment gateway to deploy VTS.
The VTS is a secured and encrypted service provided by VISA and deployed by eGHL to enable protection of consumer’s card details when performing e-commerce transactions.
eGHL, and Visa are bringing together Visa Token Service (VTS) to provide merchants a seamless and secure eCommerce solution upon checkout for their consumers. Together with Visa, eGHL will help make digital transactions more secure by tokenising both one-time and recurring payments made with Visa credentials.
Tokenisation replaces a cardholder’s 16-digit Visa account number with a token that only Visa can unlock, protecting the underlying card details from fraudsters. This provides consumers with a convenient payment experience when they shop online or make in-app transactions. This marks a major milestone in eGHL’s journey to lead a seamless and secure payment experience.
Security is a key focus for consumers making purchases online, particularly when they choose to store their card details online or in-app. Visa Token Service masks sensitive card information with a digital token that is unique between the customer and merchant. It is also used to validate and authorise purchase transactions. For each transaction, a one-time cryptogram is sent to ensure tokens are not replicated and used fraudulently. The token cannot be used by any other individual or merchant.
GHL Group CEO, Danny Leong said, “We are glad to work with VISA to strengthen ASEAN payments security and connectivity hence enabling more consumers to transact online. The current COVID-19 disruptions have shown that many consumers and indeed merchants are looking to transact online due to the movement restrictions. GHL group and eGHL are glad to be the first online payment gateway in Malaysia to deploy VTS to help to make that journey more secured for both merchants and consumers.”
“Consumers are shifting more rapidly than ever to digital-first commerce, driven by the increased digital adoption due to the global pandemic. With restriction movement orders and lockdowns in place, we see increased eCommerce activity by consumers. In fact, many of them have now embraced this mode of shopping, and intend to continue doing so. Hence, ensuring security for eCommerce transactions becomes even more pertinent. Tokenisation is one of the most effective tools Visa uses to fight fraud and improve the digital payment experience for consumers when they purchase online. We are extremely pleased to have eGHL come onboard as the first payment gateway provider in Malaysia to use Visa Token Service and enhance the online shopping experience for consumers to make it seamless and secure,” said Ng Kong Boon, Visa Country Manager for Malaysia.
Tokenisation solutions brings heightened security and ease of smart payment experience to consumers, thus removing critical hurdles on all connected devices including their smartphones. Consequently, eGHL will empower merchants to achieve top-of-wallet status among consumers by providing wider payment choices and convenience through Visa Token service.
